Walter W. "Jiggs" Fox, 87, of Creswell, died July 13 from age-related causes.

He was born June 11, 1919, to Charlie and Carrie Fox in Cole, Okla. He grew up and attended school in Oklahoma.

He moved to the Creswell-Cottage Grove area in 1936.

He married Dora Bridwell on Sept. 21, 1939, in Eugene.

He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II.

He had several business ventures and worked as a machinist with Rickini Lumber in Walker.

He enjoyed hunting, fishing, square dancing and tinkering in his shop.

He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and helped with Boy Scouting.

Survivors include his sons and daughters-in-law, Richard and Jan Fox of Cornelius and John and Donna Fox of Redmond; and nine grandchildren and 12 great-grand-children.

He was preceded in death by his wife on Aug. 4, 1999, and a son, Kenny.

A graveside funeral and inurnment was held Monday at Creswell Pioneer Cemetery. Smith-Lund-Mills Funeral Chapel was in charge of arrangements.
