Mary Emma (Fowler) Collins was the eldest of five children born to Obed R and Abigail (Barnard) Fowler. She married Joseph Adams Collins (1838-1914) on Dec 6,1861, shortly before he left for three years of Civil War service. They had five children: Alfred E (1866-1940), Susie B (1867-1867), Edmund B (1869-1932), Harry G (1872-1941), and Isabel F (1877-1971). After her husband's death, she lived with her dau. Isabel & fam. in Somerville. The Collins and Fowler monuments at Hilldale have been toppled face-down for many years, & her husband's grave cannot be decorated by veterans.
