Helen Louise Ellett, 94, of Winterset, Iowa formerly of Earlham passed away April 24, 2012 at the Madison County Hospital in Winterset. A graveside service will be held 1:00 P.M. Friday, April 27, 2012 in Highland Memory Gardens in Des Moines. Online condolences may be left at www.johnsonfamilyfuneralhome.com. Helen was born September 23, 1917 in Akron, Colorado to Fred Francis and Gladys Mae Nolte Fouts. Shortly after graduating from high school, Helen was employed at an Ammunition Plant during World War II. Helen also took classes to become a beautician. She was united in marriage to Dean H. Ellett on October 21, 1949 and together they became the proud parents of two sons. After their marriage they lived in several locations due to Dean's work ultimately settling in Des Moines. Dean preceded her in death in 1971. After his passing, Helen married Charles Hellstern and together they lived in the Des Moines area. This marriage later ended in divorce. In 1986, Helen moved to Earlham to be close to her sister, Francis Price. She enjoyed the small town living in Earlham and became active within several of their groups. She became a regular at the senior center congregate meal site for nearly 15 years and joined the Eastern Star while living in Earlham. Helen was brought up in the Quaker Faith and later on while living in Earlham joined the Earlham Presbyterian Church. She enjoyed playing cards with her friends and puzzles of all sorts. She is preceded in death by her parents Fred and Gladys Fouts, her husband, Dean Ellett, son, James Ellett, two sisters, Frances Price and Margaret Campbell, and one brother, Delmar Fouts. She leaves behind to cherish her memory, her son, Craig Ellett of Moville, Iowa; grandchildren, Brian Ellet and Shelly Ellett; great grandchildren, Sam Ellett, Tyler Ellett, and Jake Ellett; 2 daughter-in-laws, Lana Ellett and Cathy Ellett-Bruce and a host of nieces, nephews and friends all of whom will miss her greatly. (Arrangements: Johnson Family Funeral Home - Earlham).
