Elizabeth Foster Allen, 68, was called to her Heavenly home on Thursday, March 14, 2008 at Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home. She was born in Davie County on March 17, 1939, the youngest of eleven children of Rufus and Eula VanEaton Foster.

She was a 1957 graduate of Davie County Training School, and furthered her education by completing the LPN program at Rowan Technical Institute. Next, she pursued an Associate Degree in Nursing from Bronx Community College in New York and completed three years at Winston-Salem State University towards a Bachelor of Science in Nursing. For thirty-five years she worked at the Bill Heffner VA Medical Center in Salisbury from which she retired.

She was a devoted member of Fairfield Baptist Church and served as Chairperson of the Nurses Board, a member of the Missionary Circle and Pastor's Aid.

In the community she was always lending a helping hand and was known for her quiet but encouraging demeanor. She was very faithful, committed and dedicated to what she felt was righteous.

On July 9, 1989, she was united marriage to Robert Allen. To Bobby she was a loving and devoted wife. To others she was a loving Mother, Sister, Aunt, Cousin, and Friend.

She was preceded in death by two brothers, Rufus C. Foster and William S. Foster; four sisters, Beulah Chunn, Margaret Clement, Alberta Foster and Lela Clement.

She is survived by her husband of nineteen years, Robert S. Allen of the home; three sons, Jerry (Judy) Fleming of Washington, D.C, Robert (Kelly) Allen of Silver Springs, MD, and Anthony Allen of Advance; two daughters, Carleena (Neal) Graham of Accokeek, MD, and Sharon Allen of Winston-Salem; one brother, Fred (Ann) Grant of Mocksville; three sisters, Fannie J. Carson of Winston-Salem, Annie (Jake) Arnold and Mary F. Williams both of Mocksville; nine grandchildren; a host of other relatives and friends.
