KENNEBUNK - JoAnn M. Baum, 68, of Woodhaven Drive, Kennebunk, Maine, and Parrish, Fla., died June 22, at her residence after a brief illness. She was the wife of Thomas C. Baum.
She was born in Portland, Maine, Sept. 3, 1932, a daughter of the late Winthrop Foster and Joyce (Ridlon) Champlin. She graduated from Rockland High School and Maine General Hospital School of Nursing as a registered nurse.
In earlier years, she was active as a volunteer in the school system in Enfield, Conn., and Longmeadow, Mass. She was also a health volunteer for Kennebunk Health and Homecare, Southern Maine Medical Center and various organizations supporting the Shriners Hospitals for Children.
She enjoyed camping, Nascar, reading and spending time with her family.
She is survived by her husband of 47 years, Thomas C. Baum Sr. of Kennebunk, Maine and Parrish, Fla.; her mother, Joyce (Ridlon) Champlin of Rockland; her step-mother, Arlene Pingree of Westbrook; two sons; Thomas C. Baum Jr. of Agawam, Mass.; Dr. Timothy C. Baum of Scarborough; one daughter, Teresa (Baum) Camarata of Brentwood, N.H.; three brothers, Norman Foster of Glouster, Mass., Bruce Foster of Bridgton, Maine and Edward Foster of North Windham, Maine; one sister, Carol Morton of Washington state; and nine grandchildren.
A funeral was held at Tuesday at the Littlefield Memorial Baptist Church, One Waldo Avenue, Rockland, with the Rev. Walter Wakeman officiating. Interment was in the Village Cemetery in Thomaston, Maine. Arrangements are by Bibber Memorial Chapel, Kennebunk.
