Harry Johnson Foster was the son of Rueben Johnson and Margaret Elizabeth (Gentry) Foster. The Foster family moved to a farm in Union Township, Hendricks County, in 1865. Harry Johnson Foster was born on this farm in 1885 and lived there his entire life. He attended school in the one-room brick school, built in 1890, near Montclair, Indiana. He was a successful farmer and a good stock raiser, working at farming from the time he was 12 years old.
Harry Foster was a member of the Montclair Christian Church, a deacon and church officer until his death. Harry Foster married Flossie Novella Call of Pittsboro in Middle Township. Two children were born to them, Elloree (Foster) Northcott and Clyde Menifee Foster (deceased).
