Gay Anna Bailey, 65, of Centerville, passed away at her home with her daughters by her side on Oct. 4, 2010.

She was born Jan. 29, 1945, west of Mark, Iowa, to James Loyd and Helen M. Henderson Foster. She married Jerry Bailey March 27, 1964, at the Mark Baptist Church, where she was a member.

A resident of Centerville since 1953, her childhood was spent on the family farm near Mark, graduating from Davis County High School in 1963. She started working with Iowa Southern Utilities immediately after graduation. In 1971, she accepted a job at Centerville National Bank and remained there until 1991, at which time she took a job with the city of Centerville. She retired in 2010.

Gay was a member of the First Baptist Church in Centerville. She loved spending time with her daughters and her many wonderful friends. She loved her home and collecting antiques.

She is survived by two daughters, Paula Bailey of Rapid City, S.D.; Penny(Jon)Brinegar of Ottumwa; a brother, Gary(Sandra)Foster of Bloomfield; and several cousins.

She was preceded in death by her parents and Jerry Bailey in 2002.

Graveside services will be at 2pm on Saturday, Oct. 9, 2010 at the Hopkins Cemetery near Mark, Iowa, with Pastor Lloyd Johnson officiating.

In accordance to Gay's wishes, a visitation has not been planned. Memorials have been established to Mercy Hospice and the Centerville First Baptist Church.
