Birth: 1888
Death: Oct. 9, 1918, France

Saxton was the son of writer Sam Walter Foss and his wife Carrie Conant. He was a member of the Harvard class of 1910 and served in World War I as a member of Co. F, 9th Inf. Regt., 2nd Div., A.E.F. He was a recipient of the Distinguished Service Cross. His citation reads: "The Distinguished Service Cross is presented to Saxton C. Foss, Private, U.S. Army, for extraordinary heroism in action near Medeah Ferme, France, October 8, 1918.
