Early Life: Mable and twin sister, Alice, were born in Cwmavon, Monmouthshire, Wales.
Education: She attended school in Varteg [aka: Farteg], Wales.
Life's Work/Service/Interests: At age 21, Mable came to North America from her native Wales, departing from Liverpool, England on October 10, 1924, traveling by way of the S.S. Montcalm. She arrived in Quebec, Canada a week later, on October 17th, and then made her way to Salt Lake City, Utah. Records show she had been working as a laundress prior to her immigration. She was employed in Salt Lake City at Primary Children's Hospital, working with her sisters. Mable became a United States citizen in Salt Lake County on December 29, 1926. Two years later, Mable married her first cousin, Thomas Biggs, Jr. in Evanston, Wyoming. On July 25, 1928, their marriage was solemnized in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. She and husband, Thomas, went to New York City and boarded the vessel, Queen Elizabeth, to visit their native Wales in June of 1959. He passed away June 5, 1981. Mable loved dolls, to crochet, knit and read the Book of Mormon. She was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, serving in many callings. Mable Forward Biggs, of Spanish Fork, Utah, passed away Wednesday, January 5, 2000, at the home of her daughter; just three days short of her 97th birthday.
Survived By: Two sons and four daughters: Ruby B. (Sam) Hansen, Spanish Fork; Inez B. (Bob) Ferguson, Orem; Thomas Roy (Jean Ann) Biggs, American Fork; Ruth B. (Glen) Roundy, Provo; Joan B. (Ernst) Eichler, Spanish Fork; David F. (Virginia) Biggs, Spanish Fork; 51 grandchildren, 151 great-grandchildren and 20 great-great-grandchildren.
Preceded In Death By: Her husband, Thomas Biggs, Jr.; daughter, Jean B. (Stanley) Burch; two sons, Ralph C. "Dusty" Biggs and Sterling R. Biggs; her twin sister, Alice (Carlo) Klitgaard and nine other siblings.
