Phyllis was the daughter of Charles and Ethel (Hood) Fortune. She resided in Randolph Center, Vt., for her early years. She raised her children in Brookfield, Vt., until she moved to Pembroke in the early 1960s. She retired from Northern Telecom in Concord, where she worked for 15 years while raising eight children.
In her later years she enjoyed traveling and visiting her vast family.
She loved caring and doing for others, sharing baked goods, crafts, sewing, gardening, and babysitting. She was a member of several homemaker groups in communities she lived in, including Silver Fox.
In recent years, she and her sister Natie shared many hours making puzzles, going to yard sales and taking care of family.
She was predeceased by her first husband, Harold James Menard, her second husband, Marcel Anderson, and an infant son Joseph Menard.
IN HER LIFE: Members of her family include sons Michael Lee Menard of Aurora, Colo., Eugene David Menard and wife, Lynn, of Loudon, Jack Charles Menard and wife Cynthia, of Pembroke; daughters Donna Menard Goodrich and husband. Jerry, of Marion, N.C., Sandra Menard Hillman and husband Alfred "Skip", of Banks Ore., Marie Ona Menard of Weare, Peggy Menard Dutton and husband, Scott, of Weare and Terry Ann Menard of Marion, N.C.; sisters Natalie Fortune Wood of Weare and Arlene Fortune Sturdavant of Carmichael, Calif.; 15 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren and one on the way.
