Odessa - Clarice Ashmore passed away on Monday, April 9, 2007, at Medical Center Hospital at the age of 66.

She was born March 6, 1941, in Lubbock, Texas to Stanley and Charlene Fortenberry. Clarice was the second of ten children. She was married to Douglas Ashmore on October 19, 1963 in Denver City, TX. She was a homemaker and talented in many areas. She loved artwork, sewing, architecture and gardening. She owned a daycare center and a dog breeding and grooming business during her life. She worked numerous years at the McCamey Hospital in McCamey, Texas as the maintenance supervisor. Clarice instilled a deep sense of value in her children and encouraged them to remain true to their beliefs.

She is preceded in death by her parents and one sibling, Stanley Steven.

She is survived by her husband Douglas Eugene Ashmore of Odessa; four daughters: Jane Garms and her husband George of Odessa, Judy Hendrix and her husband Gary of Castroville, TX, Elizabeth Hufford and husband Bill of Odessa and Lucy Johnson and her husband James of McCamey; three sons: Joseph Ashmore and wife Debra of San Angelo, TX, Robert Ashmore and wife Rosita (Ossette) and Doug Ashmore Jr.; and two stepsons: Jeffery Ashmore of Arlington, TX and Mr. and Mrs. Scott Ashmore of Paris, TX. She had 26 living grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren. She is loved by many nieces and nephews.

Family will receive friends on April 11, 2007 from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at Sunset Memorial Funeral Home.

Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. April 12, 2007 at Sunset Memorial Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Cindy Sickler officiating. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens.
