Chico Daily Record, Saturday, May 9, 1903, pg 1 col 4: Long Suffering of Doris Forsyth Ended. Doris Forsyth, the little daughter of Mrs. John Forsyth, died in San Francisco yesterday. The remains, accompanied by the bereaved mother, arrived in Chico on this morning’s express. The funeral will take place this afternoon at 2 o’clock.

While all deaths are sad, this is particularly so, for but a few months ago, the husband and father, John Forsyth, died leaving the widow and two children without means and with no relatives in this country. The widow’s burden was intensified by the affliction of her little daughter, Doris, was a pitiable sufferer from spinal trouble, which finally caused her death. Until recently the hospital physicians held out great hope for the child’s complete recovery.
