St. George, UT - Edna Jean Forsyth Cummings, 83,was born the eldest of two children to Cleon Christopher Forsyth and Glenona Dean Bybee on June 6, 1972 in Modesto, California. She returned to her Heavenly home on January 20, 2011 in St. George, Utah.. She grew up in Stockton, California and was educated there. She began her college education at the University of California, Berkeley Campus and continued her education at Brigham Young University in Provo, Utah. She graduated from University of the Pacific, Stockton, California receiving her fifth year teaching credentials. She taught at the elementary, middle school and community college levels for most of her life. It was at the University of the Pacific that she met Willard Ronald "Kurt" Cummings and they were married August 10, 1958. She was very active in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints all her life, in Stockton, Palm Desert and Saint George where they lived. She served in the Relief Society, Young Women's and Primary organizations as well as other community educational, service, and cultural organizations. Jean and Kurt enjoyed extensive travel to most areas of the world during Kurt's employment with Brecek and Young Investment Organization. Visiting with children and grandchildren was the highlight of her travels. Jean was an accomplished pianist and her favorite pastime was family activities, as well as writing her personal history and researching her family history. Family unity, and her many good friends and acquaintances brought her great joy. She was preceded in death by her parents; her first husband, Harold Rex Tolboe; and her daughter, Lisa Cummings. She is survived by her loving and faithful husband, Kurt Cummings; her devoted children: Harold Rand Tolboe (Patrice) of Modesto, CA, Richard Brad Tolboe (Gail) of Henderson, NV, Cindy Tolboe of St. George, UT, Christopher August Tolboe (Karen) of St. George, UT and Timothy Kurt Cummings (Laura) of Stockton, CA. She has ten grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held on Monday, January 24, 2011 at 10:00 a.m. at the Southgate 2nd Ward LDS Chapel located on South Tonaquint Dr., St. George, UT. A visitation will be from 9:00 to 9:45 a.m. prior to services at the chapel. Interment will be in the Tonaquint Cemetery. Arrangements entrusted to the care of Metcalf Mortuary, (435) 673-4221
