Charles E. Foreman

Virginia Beach - Charles "Chuck" Foreman, 81, of Virginia Beach, passed peacefully to his heavenly home on January 5, 2012, after a brief illness.
He is survived by his loving wife of nearly 51 years, Mary Lou Barricklow Foreman. Other survivors include a daughter, Charla Foreman Istenes and her husband, Raymond R. Istenes, Jr. of Hagerstown, Md. and a son, Mark McKinney Foreman and his wife, Lisa Ann Foreman of Smyrna, Ga.
He is also survived by his infant granddaughter, Sarah Elizabeth Foreman, also of Smyrna, Ga., and a sister, Grace W. Willson and her husband, Harold Willson of Binghamton, N.Y. as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Born in Pennsylvania on October 9, 1930, he joined the Navy in 1948 after graduating from Dunbar Township High School in Dunbar, PA. He retired as a CWO2 from the US Navy in 1969 after 20 years of honorable service. He graduated from Old Dominion University in 1973 with a BSBA and then began a long career in the accounting profession. He retired from Portsmouth Redevelopment and Housing Authority in October 1995.
He was a long time member of Eastminster Presbyterian Church and served faithfully first as a deacon and then as an elder, and as financial secretary. More recently, he provided financial services to the church's pre-school program Kid's Quest. He also served with the after school program for Child Evangelism Fellowship at Sparrow Road Intermediate School.
Mr. Foreman was a Mason and member of both the American Legion and Fleet Reserve. He was an avid Pittsburgh Steeler fan.
A funeral service will be conducted at 12 noon Tuesday, January 10, at Eastminster Presbyterian Church in Virginia Beach. Burial will follow at Albert G. Horton Memorial Veterans Cemetery. The family will receive friends at Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home Indian River Chapel on Monday from 7 to 9 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Child Evangelism Fellowship, Tidewater Chapter, PO Box 9322, Chesapeake, VA 23321-9322 or Eastminster Presbyterian Church, 3229 MacDonald Rd., Virginia Beach, VA 23464.
