He enlisted in the Navy in 1955, serving four years before transferring to the Army where he served for 20 years before retiring in 1979. He was a member of the Special Forces with 16 months service in Vietnam. He was awarded numerous awards and decorations including the Bronze Star Medal for Valor.
Survivors include his wife of 50 years, Kazuko; sons, Charles and Jimmy; daughter, Meka and their spouses, three grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren.
There will be a memorial service at Lake Washington Fellowship Church, 4050 Lake Washington Rd. on Saturday, April 27, 2013 at 1PM. He will be interred at Arlington National Cemetery.
