Peter J. Fore was the son of Peter J. Fore and Rosa Lewis. He attended Clarksville, Mississippi High School and moved to Arkansas in 1928. He was employed at the Fore Brothers Service Station in McCrory, Arkansas.
Peter married Miss Eloise Raymond on 11/14/1942 at St. Francis County, Arkansas, by Methodist minister Rev. Paul V. Galloway. two weeks later, Peter would leave for the Army.
Peter joined the United States Army on 11/27/1942 and received his basic training at Ft. Benning, Georgia, and Radio Operator's School at Camp Gordan, Georgia. Assigned to the 90th Cavalry Reconnaissance Squadron Mechanized, 10th Armored Division, he shipped out to France in September, 1944. The 10th Armored Division entered France through the port of Cherbourg, 9/23/1944, and put in a month of training at Teurtheville, France, before entering combat. Leaving Teurtheville, 10/25/1944, the Division moved to Mars-la-Tour, where it entered combat on the 2nd of November, in support of the XX Corps, containing enemy troops in the area. Later that month, the 10th participated in the capture of Metz. It was the first time in 1500 years that the ancient fortress at Metz fell. After fierce fighting, the 10th slammed into the ominous Siegfried Line and led General George S. Patton's Third Army into Germany on 19 November 1944. Peter served as a liaison runner between Combat Command and the front lines but was killed in action on 11/24/1944.
