Mrs. Annie Ruth Ford, age 88, of McDonough, formerly of Jonesboro passed away September 11, 2014. She was preceded in death by her husband, Elijah Hilliard Ford, Jr., and her daughter, Rena Ford McCarrey.
She was the first female to serve as Clayton County Commissioner from 1977 until 1983. One of her favorite past times was her love of fishing.
She is survived by her children, Jean Oglesby of Thomaston, Phyllis Smith of Jonesboro, and Benny Wayne Ford of McDonough, 7 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren and 4 great-great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Sunday, September 14, 2014, 2 p.m. at the Chapel of Ford-Stewart Funeral Home with Rev. Irvin Pearre officiating. Interment Sherwood Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends Saturday, September 13, 2014, 5-8 p.m. at the funeral home.
