Sara F. Fisher Age 78, of Newark, DE, and a former longtime resident of Ridley Park, PA, died of breast cancer on September 19, 1999 at Manor Care at Creek Lake in Wilmington, DE.

Born in Chester, PA, Mrs. Fisher was raised in Prospect Park, PA and Norwood, PA. She was the daughter of the late Louis Armitage Ford and the late Mary Pilkington Ford. She was a 1939 graduate of the former Glen-Nor High School and a graduate of Burroughs Business School. She was a resident of Ridley Park, PA since 1954 until recently moving to Newark, DE.

Mrs. Fisher was a longtime member of St. Matthew Evangelical Lutheran Church in Woodlyn. She had been a member of the Junior Board of Taylor Hospital since 1956 and a volunteer since 1991 at Taylor Hospital, located in Ridley Park, PA. As a member of the Junior Board, Mrs. Fisher served as Vice-President, Secretary, and Treasurer and served as co-chairperson of the May Fair, the Hospital's primary fund raiser.

She was the wife of the late Norman J. Fisher, Jr., to whom she was married for 48 years, who died in 1990. She was also the sister of the late John B. Ford, Sr., who died in 1972 and the late Louis Armitage Ford, who died in 1979.

She is survived by her daughter, Mary Lou Mench of Newark, DE; her sister, Mary Lou Richards of Chambersburg, PA; her 3 grandsons, Christopher Mench of Atlanta, GA, David Mench of Wilmington, DE and Kevin Mench of Newark, DE; and her 3 great grandchildren, Kendall and Christopher Mench, III of Atlanta, GA and August Mench of Wilmington, DE.

Funeral service will be on Wednesday at 10:30 a.m. at St. Matthew Evangelical Church, Fairview Rd. and Lukens Ave. in Woodlyn. Visitation will be on Tuesday evening from 7-9 p.m. at the GRIFFITH FUNERAL CHAPEL, 520 Chester Pike in Norwood, PA. Burial will be in Middletown Presbyterian Church Cemetery in Middletown Township, PA.
