ASKEY - On Saturday, Nov. 5, the people of Snow Shoe were saddened by the death of Mrs. Robert Askey, who had been a sufferer from Neuritis for over a year. Two months ago she was taken to the Clearfield Hospital in the hope that something might be done to relieve her suffering, but after several weeks of intense suffering, the end came.
Mrs. Askey was born in Pine Glen, Oct.29, 1857, being the oldest daughter of Jefferson and Susan Force.
Almost fifty years ago, she was united in marriage to Robert Askey.
To this union eleven children were born, nine of which are living: Mrs. William Steele, Bellefonte; Jefferson Askey, Sinnemahoning; Mrs. William Long, Duluth, Minn., Mrs. Loyd Wertz, Erie; Rudolph Askey of Pine Glen; Mrs. D. W. Berkey of Beaverdale; Mrs. Edmund Rooke, Philadelphia; and Ruth, Rhoda and Sherman at home. Besides her husband, she is survived by six sisters and one brother.
Mrs. Askey was a sincere christian woman and her many deeds of kindness and love to those about her will always be a living memorial.
She was laid to rest in the Messiah Cemetery (Pine Glen) at 2:30 Wednesday afternoon. The following named men were pallbearers: Curtin Askey, Loyd Wertz, Webb Berkey, Wm. Steele, Paul Mulhollan and Elmer Bowes
