After attending the public schools of St. Joseph and Stephens college at Columbia, Missouri, Jessie Force was united in marriage to Samuel Judson Blythe, member of a prominent Platte county family. The wedding took place in the First Baptist church in St. Joseph, of which the bride was a member, on December 31, 1879.
Mr. and Mrs. Blythe began their married life on the old Blythe homestead, located 10 miles north of Weston, Missouri, where Mr. Blythe was born in 1854. Their residence was the Blythe home, constructed in 1844. It was in this pioneer house that all of their six children were born.
Mr. and Mrs. Blythe retired from farm life in 1919 and moved to Atchison. Mr. Blythe was the president of the City National bank at the time of his death in 1933.
Mrs. Blythe was a member of the Atchison chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution.
Surviving are four children, A. D. Blythe and Samuel J. Blythe, Jr. of Atchison, and Miss Nelle Blythe and Miss Jessie Blythe of the home; her sister, Miss Phebe Force, St. Joseph, and four grandchildren.
