Preceded in death by loving wife of 67 years, Cecelia E. Forbes. Survived by son Lawrence A. (Sue) Forbes, daughters, Gail F. Littlejohn and Sally Forbes Friedman, grandchildren, Stacey A. Forbes, Samantha and Zachary Forbes, Blair, Nicole and Sloan Friedman, great-grandson Jakob Forbes, and brother, Samuel Goldfarb.
Albert was born in Poland in 1919 and emigrated to the United States with his parents, Nathan and Eva Goldfarb, in 1920.
He was a resident of Los Angeles, graduating from Fairfax High School and then attending Santa Monica City College, UCLA and the USC School of Optometry, where he earned his Doctor of Optometry.
Following graduation in 1941, he enlisted in the United States Navy and rose to the rank of LT(jg) and served on the USS Birmingham. He was at the Invasions of North Africa, Sicily, and Torawa. Service in the military was one of his proudest accomplishments.
Following WWII, Albert had an optometry practice in East Los Angeles for more than 30 years. During his time in East Los Angeles, he was deeply involved in the community.
Upon retirement, Albert and Cecelia moved to Oxnard, CA and never one to be idle he established a vision clinic at St. John's Regional Medical Center for underprivileged residents in the community.
In addition, he was extremely proud of his clinic at the Cesar Chavez Elementary School for early detection of vision issues for children ages two to five.
Funeral Services were held at Mount Sinai Memorial Park, Hollywood Hills.
