d/o Joel Briggs and Mary (Dudley) Thayer; w/o Elbridge Forbes whom she married in 1857.

When a young child she came with her parents to Paris, ME which town was ever after her home, except for a few years spent in the West in her early womanhood, during a portion of which time she was engaged in teaching.

Two children were born to she and Elbridge both of whom are living, Miss Fannie A Forbes and Arthur E Forbes, both of South Paris, ME. A granddaughter of Mr Forbes formerly Miss Una P Taylor, now Mrs Ira Mournian of Fossil, OR, was also reared by Mrs Forbes, and was an immediate member of the family from the death of her own mother when she was two years of age, until her departure for the West a few years since. There are also living, of children of Mr Forbes by a former wife, who have called her by the title of mother, Mrs L. C. Morton of South Paris, ME; Mrs Clara A Bessey of Stoneham, MA; Rev H. P. Forbes, D. D. of Canton, NY, and Mrs George B Crockett of South Paris, ME; Though she had no grandchildren of her own, there are a large number of the third and fourth generation who have called her by that name. Mrs Forbes' only brother died in Iowa a few years since, and the members of his family are now residents of that state.

Mrs Forbes was one of the oldest members of the Paris Hill Baptist church, having joined it in early life. Her life was characterized by industry and service for others.
