Funeral services for Ben C. Forbes. 4022 Percy Street, were held Saturday afternoon at Alexander and Feezell Mortuary Chapel with Rev. William Christie officiating. Interment followed at Rose Hills Memorial Park. A native of Kansas, Mr. Forbes had lived here for 34 years. he was a veteran of World War 1, a member of Eastmont Christian Church where he served as a deacon; member of American Legion Post 323. East Los Angeles; and a lieutenant in the regular Sheriff Reserve. He also served as a volunteer fireman from 1914 to 1928 as well as with the Civil Defense office during World War Two. He joined the Sheriff's Emergency Reserve in 1950 and was promoted to captain in 1956 an assistant chief in 1960. When the regular Sheriff's Reserve was started last year he was appointed as a lieutenant. He is survived by his widow, De; son, Earl of Baldwin Park; daughter, Dorothy Ditschler. And three grandsons.
His first wife was Edith Louise Landet-Forbes. She was a nurse during World War One. She contracted TB at the hospital were she worked. After her death she was sent back to Anaconda Montana to be buried with her family there. Edith and Ben had two children. Earl Forbes and Dorothy Ditschler. There were no children with second wife DeVeasy Forbes. (Also known as De).
