Gwyn Rainer Foote passed away on Monday, March 9, 2009. Born March 2, 1930 in Memphis, Tennessee, she graduated from Miss Porter's School and attended Sarah Lawrence College. She was the daughter of James Connell Rainer, Jr. and Gwyn Cooke. She was preceded in death by her husband of 49 years, Shelby Dade Foote. Gwyn is survived by her three children; John J. Shea, III, MD, Gwyn Rainer Shea and Huger Lee Foote. She leaves behind seven grandchildren; Avery Shea Huffman, Gwyn Rainer Fisher, Phillip Allan Fisher, IV, John Joseph Shea, IV, Matthew Longaker Shea, Rainer Wilson Shea, and Emily Talbot Shea; and two great-grandchildren, Anna Virginia Huffman and Jackson Rainer Huffman. Gwyn is also survived by her brother James Connell Rainer, III and sister Nell Rainer Levy. Visitation will be held Thursday, March 12 from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Canale Funeral Directors. A graveside service will be held Friday, March 13 at 11:00 a.m. at Elmwood Cemetery. The family requests that any memorials be sent to the charity of the donor's choice.
