It is with a sad heart that we announce the death of our Dear Aunt Lura May Arenz. May died December 9, 2009 at the age of 101 in Long Beach, California.

May was born February 19, 1908 to Charles and Philura Fong near Waterloo, Iowa, where she lived until moving to Chilton, Wisconsin at the age of eleven. She lived and worked on a farm in Chilton and attended Chilton High School, where she graduated in 1928.

After high school, May worked at the Calumet County Courthouse until 1937 when she moved to Long Beach, California. During WWII, May worked for the Red Cross doing numerous volunteer jobs to help out with the war effort.

After the war, May was employed by McDonnell Douglas until she retired in 1973. At 101 plus years of age, she had kept her relationship with McDonnell Douglas by being involved with the U.A.W. Local 148 meetings and the retirees club.

May enjoyed spending summers in Wisconsin visiting relatives and friends. While there she would arrange her 1928 High School Class Reunion until she was the only remaining member of that class. May is survived by many nieces; nephews; friends; and her wonderful caring neighbors in Long Beach.

Her warmth, sweet nature, kindness, and infinite patience will always bring comfort to her loved ones. Be at peace Aunt May, your are loved by all.
