Matthew Michael Foltz, 18, of Mattoon, IL. passed away at 5:20 a.m., Friday, June 13, 2008 in Arcola, IL. as a result of an automobile accident. The funeral service in his honor will be held at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, June 18, 2008 at Mitchell-Jerdan Funeral Home with the Rev. Max Hardy officiating. Visitation will be held from 4:00 - 8:00 p.m. Tuesday, June 17, 2008 at the funeral home. Matthew was born August 2, 1989 a son of Michael Todd and Phyllis Maretta (Lyons) Foltz. Survivors include his mother and step-father, Phyllis and Chris Rankin of Mattoon, IL.; his father and step-mother, Michael and Jennifer Foltz of Shelbyville, IL.; five brothers, Todd Foltz of Mattoon, IL., Cody Bothawell, Caleb Hogan, Brenden Nees and Luke Foltz all of Shelbyville, IL.; four sisters, Jennifer Hamilton of Charleston, IL., Sierra Foltz of Shelbyville, IL., Rebecca Rankin of Mattoon, IL. and Jaime Rankin of Mattoon, IL.; his grandparents, Kathy Applegate of Charleston, IL., James Lyons Sr. of Georgetown, IL., Carol Warner of Mattoon, IL. and Joe and Nancy Hogan of Shelbyville, IL.; great-grandparents, Joseph and Elsie Courtney, Mildred Richardson and Don and Wanda Rankin all of Mattoon, IL. Preceding him in death were his great-grandmother, Phyllis Whitington and his great-grandfather, Richard Askren. Matthew had many interests including soccer and basketball, playing bags, playing X-box, four-wheeling, camping, going to the beach and spending time with his friends. Matthew was a young man with many dreams. Those who knew him loved his sense of humor and love of life. He will be dearly missed. Memorials may be made to the Coles County Animal Shelter, 6818 N.
