Georgia M. Best, 89, Hagerstown, formerly of Greensburg, died at 9:40 a.m. on Friday, July 16 at The Waters in New Castle.

Born Aug. 11, 1914 in Anderson, she was the daughter of Dee Foist and Amanda Gooding Foist. She married George W. "Bill" Best on April 25, 1936. He preceded her in death on July 8, 2001.

A retired teller at the former Union Bank and Trust in Greensburg, she was a member of the Burney Baptist Church and a 1932 graduate of Hope High School.

She is survived by sons, Richard L. (Nancy) Best of Hagerstown and Thomas A (Candice) Best of Bloomington; a sister-in-law, Nellie M. Stilwell; eight grandchildren; a great-grandchild and several nieces and nephews.

Besides her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by brothers, Ralph, Charles, Ray and Richard Foist and sisters, Maysel Haywood, Rachel Cook and Doris Johnson.

Visitation will be from 1:30-4:30 p.m. Sunday at the Gilliland-Howe Funeral Home in Greensburg. Funeral service is at 1 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Union Chapel Cemetery, near St. Paul.

Memorials may be made to the Burney Baptist Church.
