Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, March 5, at Miller & Steinke Funeral Home, Galena, with the Rev. James McCrea of the First Presbyterian Church officiating. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery, Galena. Friends may call from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
She was born on April 17, 1919, in Dubuque, daughter of Frank and Hazel (Kuehl) Foht. She was a graduate of East Dubuque High School with the class of 1937.
She married George P.T. Wieters on Oct. 14, 1938, at First Presbyterian Church in Galena; he preceded her in death on June 6, 1996.
She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church.
Helen was unable to have children; instead she shared her love with her dogs over the years, Beau, Rags and Cassie, and her many friends and family.
She loved tending to her vegetable garden, which she started with her husband in 1938. Helen also was known for the rugs that she weaved. She was an avid euchre player and Cubs fan.
Helen will be especially remembered for her kind heart, hard work ethic, willingness to help others and charm.
Surviving are many nieces and nephews; and grandnieces and nephews.
She also was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Milton, in 1918, and Frank "Fritz," in 1991; and two sisters, Olive (Foht) Chetlain, in 2000, and Gloria (Foht) Bussan, in 2002.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to American Institute for Cancer Research.
