He established the C. E. Flusser Coal and Wood Yard, advertised in the 1904 City Directory at Pascagoula and Crescent Streets in Jackson.

He served in the Civil War as a private in the 38th Mississippi Infantry, Co. H.

In his will, he bequeathed $10,000 and all his household furniture to the Old Ladies Home on West Capitol Street. He also left $2,000 at the Merchants Bank & Trust Company to be invested for scholarships for deserving girls at Belhaven College. The Jackson Daily News reported also that he asked his friend, Ivy Thompson, to take care of his dog, a faithful animal that had followed him about the streets of Jackson for nearly a decade. He bequeathed to Ivy Thompson, described by the newspaper as an aged citizen of West Jackson, a residence, an automobile, and $1,000.
