Doris M. Simmerock, 74, daughter of Charlie A. and Lura Nelson Floyd, was born Oct. 22, 1933, at Montauk. She died Sept. 8, 2008, at her home at St. James.
Mrs. Simmerock was a life-long hair dresser while her husband spent 25 years working for Breckenridge Ready Mix and was a member of Teamsters Local 682 in St. Louis. They retired to Lake of the Ozarks, spending time boating, fishing and working. They recently moved to St. James to be closer to family.
She enjoyed her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, being outside, camping and fishing.
She was preceded in death by her parents; three brothers, Udell A., Delmar W. and Udoulf Floyd; and and sister, Mattie M. Cooper.
Surviving are her husband of the home; three children, Connie Giacolone of St. James, Rebecca "Becky" Merx of Cadet and Johnny Hayes of Arnold; her siblings, Nettie Evans of Licking, Gene Floyd and Clemmie Morton of Houston and Ruth Rey of Springfield; 11 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.
A celebration of her life is 10:30 Saturday morning at the Evans Funeral Home Chapel led by Vince Giacolone. Burial is in the Boone Creek Cemetery.
Visitation is 5 to 8 o'clock Friday evening at the Evans chapel.
