ELLENTON — Gene Flowers, 78, of Ellenton, passed away Aug. 17, 2010, at the Memorial Hospital of Adel.
He was born June 9, 1932, in Greenville, Fla., to the late Isaac Goodman and Minnie Luke Flowers.
He lived most of his life in Cook County and the past 12 years in Ellenton.
He was a retired mechanic at Talley-Corbett Box Co.; an Army veteran and fought in the Korean Conflict.
He was of the Baptist faith.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Lucile Weeks Flowers.
He is survived by one daughter, Debra and Gary Hunter of Lenox; two grandchildren, Shane Cowart, Tifton, Tera and Keith Myers, Dublin; seven great-grandchildren, Jayde Cowart, Tifton, Peyton Cowart, Tifton, Reed Cromer, Courtney Myers, Zachary Myers, Cameron Myers and Christian Myers, all of Dublin.
Funeral service will be held at 4 p.m., Friday, Aug. 20, 2010, in the chapel of Boone-Lipsey Funeral Home with the Rev. Ricky Baldree, Keith Myers and Terrell Cowart officiating.
Interment will be in Cool Springs Baptist Church Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. today at Boone-Lipsey Funeral Home, 202 N. Hutchinson Ave. — Boone-Lipsey Funeral Home, Adel
