Martha Flowers Carithers
MOULTRIE Martha Flowers Carithers, 94, of Moultrie, died Wednesday, Jan. 13, 2010, at Park Regency Center.

Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Friday, Jan. 15, at the First United Methodist Church with the Revs. Hale Bishop and Sonny Pinckard officiating.

Burial will follow in Westview Cemetery with Keith Pinckard, Tim Mixon, Lee Mixon, Kody Mixon, Jeff Jeffords and Grover Reeves serving as pallbearers.

The honorary pallbearers will be the Lena Tyson Sunday School Class and the Moultrie Lions Club.

Born Feb. 24, 1915, she was the daughter of the late John Williams Flowers and Mary Frances McCarty Flowers.

She was a homemaker and a member of First United Methodist Church of Moultrie, where she worked 20 years as financial secretary.

She was also a charter member of the Lioness Club, an active member of her bridge club for more than 70 years and was active in community service.

She was preceded in death by her husband, James D. Carithers; and several brothers and sisters.

Survivors include her daughters, Ginger Pinckard and husband Saunders of Americus, Ga., Claire Miles and husband Tim of Villa Rica, Ga., and Betty Mixon and husband Ralph of Ozark, Ala.; a sister-in-law, Rachel Byrd of Ft. Meyers, Fla.; grandchildren, Keith Pinckard and wife Andrea of Americus, Ga., Tim Mixon and wife Shayne of Woodstock, Ga., Lee Mixon of Savannah, Ga., Jana Miles of Villa Rica, Ga., Lisa Denny of Marietta, Ga. and Angela Green and husband David of Duluth, Ga.; and great-grandchildren, Kari Pinckard, Aaron Pinckard, Kody Mixon, Rebekah Dashler, Clayton Mixon, Aris Mixon, Awtry Sims, Caitlin Denny, Jessica Denny and Taylor Denny.

Visitation will be one hour prior to service on Friday at the First United Methodist Church.

Donations may be made to the First United Methodist Church or the Georgia Lions Lighthouse Foundation.

Baker Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
