Vera Flowers Baker
MOULTRIE — Vera Flowers Baker, 86, of Moultrie, died, Sunday, May 24, 2009, at Colquitt Regional Medical Center. Funeral services will be 4 p.m., Wednesday, May 27, at Moultrie Church of God with the Rev. Mark Jordan officiating, assisted by the Rev. Ricky McLaughlin.
Interment will follow in Cobb Suncrest Memorial Gardens. Casket bearers will be Farrell Ruis, Bobby Ruis, Wendell Ruis, Marvin Ruis, Roger Ruis and DeWayne Ruis. Born May 25, 1922, in Colquitt County; she was the daughter of the late Nathan Flowers and Onie Cardin Flowers.
She was a seamstress, formerly associated with Riverside Manufacturing Company and was a member of Moultrie Church of God. She was preceded in death by her husband, John Thomas Baker; son-in-law, Dewey Cobb; and a grandson, Kevin Dewey Cobb.
Survivors include her daughter, Linda Baker Cobb of Moultrie; two sons, Lee T. "Buddy" Baker of Moultrie and Morris David Baker and wife Barbara of Tifton, Ga.; two granddaughters, Cindy Gillis of Soperton, Ga. and Selena Johns of Tifton, Ga.; two great-granddaughters, Jenna Scarborough and Sara Faith Johns both of Tifton, Ga.; a brother, Raiford Flowers of Moultrie; and a sister, Lona Thompson of North Carolina.
The family will be receiving friends from 6 to 8 p.m., today, May 26, at Cobb Funeral Chapel.
Cobb Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
