Adelia M. Flores, age 91, a lifetime resident of Las Vegas, N.M., passed away on Tuesday, Feb.12, 2008, at her home following a sudden illness.
She was born in Las Vegas, N.M. on Dec. 16, 1916 to the late Tranquelino Esquibel and Euphemia Montoya Esquibel.
She was united in marriage in Las Vegas, N.M., in 1934 to the late William Flores Sr.
She was a Gold Star Mother, due to the loss of her son, Jerry Flores, in the Vietnam War on March 6, 1971. She as a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great-grandmother, mother-in-law and aunt.
A lifetime Catholic, she was a member of Our Lady of Sorrows Chuch.
She was preceded in death by her parents: Tranquelino and Euphemia Esquibel; husband: William Flores, Sr.; sons: Jerry Flores and Willie Flores, Jr.; brother: Carlos Montoya; sister-in-law: Frances Montoya; son-in-law: Adam Griego and great-grandson: William Aragon.
She is survived by her daughters and sons: Frances Trujillo and husband Raymond of Sierra Vista, Arizona; Manuel Flores, Cruz Flores and wife Antonia, Eleanor Lopez and husband Tony, Theresa Griego, Pauline Salas, Ernestine Aragon and Rose Morales and husband Richard; Daughter in law Mary Floresall of Las Vegas, N.M.; of 18 grandchildren, 44 great-grandchildren and 4 great-great-grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Rosary devotional services will be conducted this evening at 7 p.m. at Our Lady of Sorrows Church. Funeral services will be conducted on Saturday morning at 9 at Our Lady of Sorrows Church with Father C. John Brasher as celebrant. Interment will follow at the San Jose Cemetery with the following serving as casket bearers: Chris Griego, Greg Flores, Kenny Flores, Anthony Lopez, Ron Lopez, Jerry Lopez, David Salas and Richard Morales Jr. Serving as honorary bearers will be all her remaining grandchildren, great - grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
She will lie in state at the Rogers Chapel today all day until 5 p.m. where family and friends may call.
