Published in Columbus Ledger-Enquirer on October 1, 2009 Thelma Flinn Bazemore, 92, of Phenix City, AL passed away Saturday, September 26, 2009 at her home. Funeral services will be held Monday, September 28, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. EST in the chapel of Striffler-Hamby Mortuary, Phenix City, AL with the Reverends Dexter James and Wayne Burns officiating. Interment will follow in Lakeview Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends Monday from 9:30-10:30 a.m. EST at the funeral home prior to the service. Honorary pallbearers will be the deacons of Central Baptist Church. Mrs. Bazemore was born February 16, 1917 in Phenix City, AL, daughter of the late Charles R. and Maude Robertson Flinn. She was a loyal member of Central Baptist Church in Phenix City and former Sunday School teacher. She was employed for many years by Schwob Manufacturing Co., Union Carbide and served as a volunteer for the Phenix City Red Cross. Other than her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, C.R. Bazemore. Survivors include two daughters, Fay Tucker of Phenix City, AL and Mary Miller and her husband, Larry of Columbus, GA; one sister, Bessie Howard of Columbus, GA; four grandchildren, Paul Tucker and his wife, Brenda of Birmingham, AL, David Miller, Elizabeth Miller, both of Columbus, GA, and Alice Wrate and her husband, John of Newport Coast, CA; four great grandchildren, Damian Tucker, Ella, Maddie and Olivia Wrate and many nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made to the Central Baptist Church Building Fund, 1407 Broad St., Phenix City, AL 36867 or to Columbus Hospice, 7020 Moon Rd., Columbus, GA 31909. The family wishes to recognize Dr. Philip Robinson, the St. Luke Methodist Church Respite Care and special caregivers from Columbus Hospice; Stephanie Gordon and Antonette McKeller.
