During her lifetime, she worked as an accountant on various military bases both at home and abroad, finally retiring on June 3, 1993. During her employment with the US Air Force, she received several sustained superior performance awards and was an active member of the American Society of Military Comptrollers. She excelled in arts and craft works, completed several quality paintings, and was fluent in three different languages. But her greatest achievement was raising her five sons from birth through college years. She was a loving, compassionate, and caring wife, mother, grandmother and friend. She will be sadly and deeply missed by all who loved her. She belonged to the First United Methodist Church in Enid, Oklahoma and active in United Methodist Women. She was also an active member of the Epsilon Sigma Alfa Beta Chapter Sorority whose service project was St. Jude's.
Jacqueline H. (Fleury) Bourland, age 79, passed away at 11:00 A.M. on Monday, June 14, 2010 at her home in Mt. Vernon, Illinois.
Jacqueline was born on April 19, 1931 in Casablanca, French Morocco to the late Theophile and Adrian Fleury. She met her husband, Frank Bourland in October of 1956 while working as a Secretary/Interpreter for the Provost Marshall of a military base in North Africa. She and Frank were married on December 27, 1957 in Casablanca at the Air Force Base.
She is survived by her husband: Frank Bourland of Mt. Vernon, Illinois; five sons: Roger and wife Becky of The Woodlands, Texas, Dr. James Bourland and wife Lucy of Midland, Texas, Steven Bourland and wife Kari of Tulsa, Oklahoma, Jeffrey Bourland and wife Teresa of Gilbert. Arizona, Creighton Bourland and wife Blesselda of Phoenix, Arizona; 11 grandchildren: Ashley M, Emily, Katherine, Erin, Alexandra, Madison, Andrew, Ashley, Glen, Luke and Blake Bourland, niece: Veronique Fleury of Washington, DC and nephew: Cyril Fleury of Versailles, France. She is also survived by her two best friends from Enid, Patty Lohmeier and Letha Lieb.
She was preceded in death by her parents, an aunt who was her guardian during the early years of her life, Maria "Ta-Ta" Lebat, a brother: Alain Fleury and sister-in-law: Christian Fleury.
VISITATION: was held from 9:00 A.M. until service time at 10:00 A.M. on Saturday, June 19, 2010 at Hughey Funeral Home in Mt. Vernon, Illinois. FUNERAL SERVICES: were held at 10:00 A.M. on Saturday, June 19, 2010 at Hughey Funeral Home in Mt. Vernon, Illinois. Reverend Merle Fullerton officiated. INTERMENT: Oakwood Cemetery in Mt. Vernon, Illinois. For those who wish, memorials may be given to Alzheimer's Association or to Hospice of the Good Samaritan and will be accepted at the funeral home or may be mailed to Hughey Funeral Home, P.O. Box 721, Mt. Vernon, Illinois 62864.
