Daughter of George and Ada Probin Fletcher. Doreen is survived by her husband Walter H. Sorensen Sr. whom she married 10/15/1995, three daughters,a son, nine grandchildren, three stepdaughters, a stepson, several stepgrandchildren and step-great-grandchildren. She owned and operated the former Bits and Pites Deli in Lakewood, worked for the FBI in Washington D.C. as an administrative assistant and also worked for the former Bigelow Department Store. She loved knitting,cooking and baking. She spent many hours working in her vegetabel and flower garden.An area resident for most of her life, she was born July 9, 1932, in Jamestown, the daughter of the late George and Ada Probin Fletcher. She was a graduate of the former Lakewood High School and had attended college in California. During her high school years she spent two years in Great Britian before returing for her senior year at the Lakewood High School. Before her retirement she owned and operated the Sticky Fingers Day Care Center from her home for several years. She had also owned and operated the former Bits and Bites Deli in Lakewood for several years. In earlier years she had worked for the Federal Bureau of Investigation in Washington, D.C., as an administrative assistant and also worked for the former Bigelows Department Store. She was a member of the Gloria Dei Lutheran Church, Lakewood and had been attending the Fluvanna Community Church. She was a past member of the Southern Chautauqua County Child Care Association, a former member of the Chautauqua Lake Yacht Club, and a member of the Lakewood Rod and Gun Club. She will be remembered as a loving and caring wife, mother and grandmother who loved her family with all her heart and was very mindful of her extended family in England, with whom she always kept in touch. She loved knitting, cooking and baking, which led to her opening the deli. She also spent many hours working in her vegetable and flower gardens and loved the beauty of nature. She also loved to care for animals and always was interested in keeping up on current events. She will be remembered for the courageous battle she fought against cancer and was working out at curves right up till the very end, fighting for every day she was given. She is survived her husband, Walter H. Sorensen Sr., whom she married Oct.15, 1995; three daughters: Kimberly Anderson Larson of Lakewood, Valerie Anderson Peterson of Seagrove, Fla., and Kori Anderson Colangelo of Pittsburgh; a son George F. Anderson of Vancouver, Wash.; nine grandchildren: Patricia ''Tricia'' Larson, Aileen and Fletcher Larson, all of Lakewood, Kristine, Caroline and Mitchell Peterson, all of Seagrove, Pryce, Cole and Reid Anderson, all of Vancouver; three stepdaughters, Rita Poole of London, Ky., Sue Colley of Jamestown, and Judy Colton of Medina, Ohio; a stepson, Mark Sorensen of Kennedy; several stepgrandchildren, and step-great-grandchildren; and two sisters: Shirley Irwin of Deland, Fla., and Patricia Kay of Warren.
