E. Arlene Fletcher, age 93 of Crawfordsville, Iowa, died Tuesday, December 28, 2010 at the Sunrise Terrace Care Center in Winfield following a sudden illness.

Funeral services will be held 10:30 a.m. Friday, December 31, 2010, at the United Church of Crawfordsville with Rev. Nancy Oehler Love officiating. Visitation will begin noon Thursday at the Jones Eden Funeral Home in Washington where the family will receive friends from 6:00 – 8:00 Thursday evening. Interment will take place at the Crawfordsville Cemetery in Crawfordsville, Iowa. Memorials have been established for the United Church of Crawfordsville or Sunrise Terrace Care Center.

Arlene was born March 11, 1917 in Marsh, Iowa the daughter of Clarance Alan and Nina (Bolon) Lowe. She attended school in Crawfordsville and graduated from Crawfordsville High School in 1934. On August 29, 1936, Arlene was united in marriage to Cleo Clinton Fletcher in Knoxville, Iowa.

Arlene was a life resident of the Crawfordsville area. She was a member of the United Church of Crawfordsville and was active in the United Church Women. She was a 4-H leader, a member of Eastern Star, member of T.T.T. Chapter L, and enjoyed the "Social Hour Club". Arlene enjoyed sewing and was an accomplished seamstress.

She is survived by one son Larry Fletcher and wife Donna of Crawfordsville, Iowa; daughter Kathy Garris and husband Mick of Winfield, Iowa; daughter-in-law Robin Fletcher of Eddyville, Iowa; eight grandchildren; and eight great grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister Betty McCoy and husband Cleo of Washington, Iowa; brother Robert Lowe and wife Anita of Brea, California; and sister-in-law Marie Lowe of Crawfordsville, Iowa.

Arlene was preceded in death by her husband in 1970; two sons Nicky in 1942 and Kim in 2006; three brothers Earl Lowe, Harold "Bud" Lowe, and Lyle "Dude" Lowe as well as two sisters, Maxine Miller and Bernice Kettles.
