Jean Fleming Cooper of Easton, MD, formerly of Hillsboro, MD, died Tuesday, June 26, 2012 at the Talbot Hospice House in Easton. She was 78 years old. Born in Hillsboro on February 4, 1934, Mrs. Cooper was the daughter of the late Francis "Dick" Turner Fleming and the late Mary Jeidelle Allen Fleming. Her husband, James A. Cooper, Sr., died Nov. 16, 1995.
Mrs. Cooper had worked in Real Estate and Hess Apparel in Easton before she owned and operated the Country Shop on Rt. 404 in Hillsboro until 1995. Over the years, she had participated in the Fresh Air Fund and had an interest in the Chesapeake Center in Easton and the Benedictine School in Ridgely. In the past, she had been a counselor for AL-Anon in Easton. She had been a donor to many charitable organizations.
Mrs. Cooper is survived by one son, Daniel H. Hodgman III and his wife Brenda Anne of Easton; four grandchildren: Danielle Mangold, Lisa Hodgman, Daniel H. Hodgman IV, and Olivia Hodgman; and five great grandchildren: Kyra, Jayden, Gabrielle, Brooks, and Madeline. In addition to her husband, Mrs. Cooper is predeceased by a son, M. Kevin Hodgman, and a daughter-in-law, Cheryl Hodgman.
