Alice Mary (Fitzsimons) Kirwin Breslin, age 89 of Newark, DE, formerly of Elsmere, passed away peacefully on Monday, August 22, 2005 at Jeanne Jugan Residence, surrounded by her family.
Born in Ireland in 1916, Mrs. Breslin was the daughter of the late Peter and Katherine (Scally) Fitzsimons. Alice cherished her family and her lifelong job as a rectory housekeeper for Msgr. Eugene Biggins at Immaculate Heart of Mary Church and later for Father Trainor at St. Patrick's Church.
She was married to James Kirwin for 22 years. He expired in 1960. She remarried in 1968 to Al Breslin, but he died of a heart attack 1 month later. Alice is survived by her sons and daughters-in-law, James and Sheila Kirwin of Kemblesville, PA and Kevin and Denise Kirwin of Greensboro, NC; 8 grandchildren; and 19 great grandchildren. Also surviving are 2 sisters, Nancy in Ireland and Molly in England.
The family would like to extend their sincere gratitude to Little Sisters of the Poor and all of their staff who took such loving and devoted care of their mother.
Visitation will take place on Wednesday, August 24th, between 5 and 7 pm at the Jeanne Jugan Residence, 185 Salem Church Road, Newark, DE 19713, where a Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Thursday morning, August 25th, at 10:30 am. Interment will be in Cathedral Cemetery in Wilmington.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to Little Sister of the Poor, c/o Jeanne Jugan Residence.
