BESSIE MAE BUMPERS
Bessie Mae Bumpers, 76, of Minotola and formerly of Chester, Pa., went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, Jan. 1, 2011, at Bishop McCarthy Residence in Vineland.
Born to the late Lucious and Rosie Bell (Colbert) Fitzpatrick Sr., she was formerly a supervisor of food services for Chester Upland Board of Education and a nurse's aide for Fair Acres in Media, Pa. Bessie was a member of Christian Love Church in Vineland, where she joined under Pastor Karen Johnson. She enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren, cooking, baking, gardening and her Motown and WDAS Quiet Storm music collection.
Bessie leaves to cherish her memories four sons, Percy White Jr., Gary (Patricia) White, Virgil (Joanne) White and Darryl (Frendessa) White; one daughter, Ruby Joyce (Sammy) Benson; one brother, Franklin Fitzpatrick; one sister, Bernice (Reginald) Archie; and a host of grandchildren; great-grandchildren; and great-great-grandchildren, cousins, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Bessie was preceded in death by her husbands, Percy White Sr. and King Bumpers; and two daughters, Priscilla Coleman and Cheryl White.
Services will be held at 1 p.m. Monday at Christian Love Church, 503 Birch St., Vineland, where friends may view two hours prior to services. At the family's request, there will be no final viewing.
Interment will be held at George Washington Carver Cemetery in Birmingham, Ala.
