Oleta May Brown

Oleta May Brown, formerly of Blackwell, Oklahoma, went to be with her Lord on January 8, 2013, at the age of 91 years.

Oleta May Brown was born, one of eight children, on December 9, 1921, in Braman, Oklahoma, to Leonard and Amanda May (Winchell) Fisher.

On July 11, 1938, she met and married her husband of sixty-four years, Orville Henry Brown, and they resided in the Blackwell area for most of their married life and she served her family as a homemaker.

Oleta also served as her husband's right hand man in their lawnmower business and could often be seen with grease on her hands.

She was an active member of the First Church of the Nazarene in Blackwell and served as a member of the church board. She also held membership in the Zink Smelter Ladies Auxiliary and along with her husband served meals on wheels for a number of years.

She was a devoted mother and wife who enjoyed sewing, hand quilting and crafts. She will always be remembered as a compassionate Christian lady who lived her life for her Lord and set examples of love that were the envy of those that were around her.

She is survived by two sons, Charles Kittrell and wife Linda of Cordova, Tennessee, and Gary Brown and wife Dora of Santa Maria, California; a daughter, Glenda Parris and husband Larry of Shawnee, Oklahoma; a daughter-in-law, Jean Brown of Cartwright, Oklahoma; a son-in-law, Michael Murphy of Blackwell; a brother, Leonard Fisher of Arkansas City, Kansas; a sister, Lillie Spaulding of Blackwell; her grandchildren, Barry, Chris, Kelly, Gary, Alex, Kenny, Jana, Jeanna, Jackie, Shon, Tara, Amanda, Deanna, Krista and Michael; and twenty-three great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; a daughter, Amanda Jane Murphy; and two sons, Jackie Edwin and Mark Owen Brown

Services are scheduled for 11:00 a.m., Friday, January 11th in the Roberts and Son Funeral Home Chapel in Blackwell with the Rev. Raymond England of the Trinity Lighthouse in Denison, Texas, officiating. Burial will follow in the Blackwell Cemetery.

Casketbearers will be Jackie Brown, Chris Kittrell, Shon Gillispie, Dalton Gillispie, Michael Murphy and Drew Mitchell. Serving as honorary casketbearers will be Gary Parris, Bill Knaus, Roger Henson and Matt Mitchell.
