CHESTERTON - Mary Evelyn Brocksmith, 80, Chesterton, died at 11:55 a.m. Tuesday (October 26, 1999) at Waters of Duneland Health Care Center, Chesterton.
A funeral service is set for 11 a.m. Saturday at Edmonds & Evans Funeral Home, Chesterton, with the Rev. James Armstrong. Burial will be in Chesterton Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 9 a.m. until time of service Saturday at the funeral home, 517 Broadway, Chesterton.
Mrs. Brocksmith was born in Rheatown, Tenn., on April 13, 1919, to James Campbell and Ida Mae Keller Fisher.
On Nov. 11, 1941, in Chesterton she married Russell E. Brocksmith, who died December 4, 1998.
Survivors include three daughters, Mary (Roger) McMeans, Chesterton, Sharon (David) Hawkins, Colorado Springs, Col., and Ruth Geraghty, Seattle; four grandchildren, Stephanie and Carolyn McMeans, Laura Hawkins, and Eileen Geraghty; one brother, James C. (Betty) Fisher, Joplin, Mo.; one sister, Elizabeth Babcock, Valparaiso; one sister-in-law, Betty Marie Fisher. Her brother Paul Fisher preceded her in death.
Mrs. Brocksmith was a homemaker who had lived in the area since 1929. She had been a bank teller at Chesterton State Bank for 17 years.
She was a member of First United Methodist Church, Chesterton Womens Club, and Ruth Circle at First United Methodist Church.
Memorials may be made to First United Methodist Church, 434 S. Second St., Chesterton or to the charity of the donor's choice.
