Gladys Ruth Fisher, 74, of Decatur passed away 10:45 a.m. Feb. 15, 2006, in Fair Havens Christian Home in Decatur. Funeral services will be 7 p.m. today at Dawson & Wikoff West Wood Street Funeral Home in Decatur, with visitation from 5 to 7 p.m. today. Burial will be 11:30 a.m. Saturday at Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Mt. Vernon. Memorial contributions may be directed to the family. Messages of condolence may be directed to the family via e-mail at www.dawson-wikoff.com. Mrs. Fisher was born Oct. 4, 1931, in Ruegg, Mo., a daughter of William T. and Velma F. Van Gilder Breazeale. She was a certified nurses assistant and later a machine operator at Marvel Schebler in Decatur. She was affiliated with Central Baptist Church in Decatur. She married Kenneth Cox, Herman Costley Sr. and later James Fisher; all have preceded her in death. Surviving are sons Donald Cox, Larry Cox and Herman ?Randy? Costley and wife Patricia, all of Decatur; a daughter, Kathy Wilderman and husband James of Decatur; granddaughters that she raised, Mindi and Cindi Fisher of Decatur; brothers William Thomas Breazeale Jr. and wife Louise of Decatur and Gary Ronald Breazeale Sr. and wife Joyce of Jacksonville, N.C.; a sister, Doris Switters of Princeton; grandchildren Mike, Joe, Nick, Holly, D.J., Deanna, Matt, Veronica, Jimmy and William; great-grandchildren Allie, Colton, Hollie and Austin; and a longtime friend and co-worker, Bernice Sills of Decatur. Mrs. Fisher was preceded in death by her parents; her husbands; sons Dale and Ronald; daughters Gail, Terry and Karen; and a brother, Benjamin F. Breazeale. A special thank you to Decatur Memorial Hospital Fifth Floor, Cancer Care, Hospice, Fair Havens Christian Home, Pastor Dave Brown and everyone else that loved and cared for Mrs. Fisher.
