LINCOLN - Joseph Fischer, 78, of Lincoln, died Thursday, June 16, 2005.
Services are 11 a.m. Wednesday at St. Bonaventure Catholic Church in Columbus with the Rev. Tom Weisbecker officiating. Burial will be at St. Bonaventure Catholic Cemetery in Columbus.
Visitation will be 5-9 p.m. Monday, 9 a.m.-9 p.m. Tuesday and 10-11 a.m. Wednesday at the church. A 7 p.m. Tuesday rosary will be held at Butherus, Maser & Love Funeral Home with the Rev. Sean Kilcawley officiating.
Mr. Fischer was born Nov. 18, 1926, in Columbus to Joseph C. and Dorothy M. Fischer.
He was a tool and die designer for Dale Electronics.
He served his country as a member of the U.S. Coast Guard Merchant Marines, Nebraska National Guard and the U.S. Air Force.
He was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Lincoln. He was a former member of St. Bonaventure. He was a lifetime member of the Knights of Columbus 938, and a member of the American Legion and Veterans of Foreign Wars Club, both in Columbus.
He enjoyed golfing, bowling, fishing and playing cards with his grandchildren.
Survivors include his wife of Lincoln; three sons, James (Diane) Fischer of Lincoln, Joseph (Mary Jo) Fischer of Edmund, Okla., and John (Lori) Fischer of York; two stepchildren, Thomas (Laura) Lococo of Lincoln and Catherine (Victor) Gamble of Kansas City, Mo.; 16 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and three sisters, Gloria (Ivan) Schaecher of Columbus, Joan Baumert of Columbus, and Frances Schultz of Ft. Worth, Texas.
He was preceded in death by his first wife Marian L. Fischer; and brother Eugene Fischer.
Memorials are suggested to St. Joseph Catholic Church in Lincoln or St. Bonaventure Educational Fund in Columbus.
