Utica Observer Dispatch, October 7, 1929 edition. Obituary, Mrs. James Crane, 74, died at her home on College Hill, Clinton, early this morning, having been confined to her bed for the past five months. Her maiden name was Mary Finnegan. She was born in Albany, March 16, 1851, daughter of Philip and Elizabeth Finnegan. When a child, she moved with her family to Taberg, where she lived until her marriage on Feb. 11, 1873, to James Crane at Clinton. She had since lived in Clinton. She was a member of St. Mary's Church. Clinton, and of the Altar and Rosary Societies of the Church. Mrs. Crane is survived by the following children: Miss Agnes E. Crane of Utica, Michael T. Crane, Dogleville; Mrs. William P. Smith, Utica; Mrs. James Doyle, New Hartford; Sister Agnes Edina, St. Mary's Convent at Amsterdam; Philip B. Crane, Mrs. Earl Peters and James and Leo Crane of Clinton. She also leaves the following brothers and sisters: Thomas and James Finnegan of Taberg, John Finnegan of San Jose, Calif., Philip Finnegan of Newport News, Va., Mrs. Rose Murphy, Rome and Agnes Houston of Clinton and 24 grandchildren.
