An extened illness brought death to Mrs. H. A. Blunk, wife of the Martinsville city engineer, Sunday afternoon at 2:45 at the family home on South Main Street.
A diabetic for several years, Mrs. Blunk's condition had grown serious in September 1952. It improved afterward but grew worse this summer and she had not been out after returning from Morgan County Memorial Hospital in July. She suffered a stroke Friday morning.
Mrs. BLunk had lived in Martinsville for more than 40 years, coming here from the northwest part of Morgan County. She was formerely Nora Della Finchum, one of 12 children of James and Mary Finchum and was born southwest of Eminence Apr. 21, 1885. The family later moved near Hall and it was while there that she married her school teacher, Mr. BLunk, Sept. 28, 1899. She also lived at Crown Center when she became a member of the Mt. Tabor Christian Church in 1901, later moving her membership to the First Christian Church here during the ministry of Rev. Edwards. As long as she was able she was quite active in the Art Society and other organizations of the Church. She also belonged to the Martinsville Department Club.
Beside her husband, she leaves a daughter, Mrs. Dee Sumpter of Crete, Ill.; a son, Delmas Blunk, St. Louis; a sister and brother, Mrs. Maude Phillips, south of Monrovia, and Roy Finchum of Crown Center.
Also surviving are five grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Funeral services will be conducted by Rev. Fred Sharp Wednesday afternoon at 2 o'clock at the Cure and Hensley Chapel. Friends may call at the funeral home at any time.
