Marylin Echo Fife Barnes, 79, of Idaho Falls, passed away Thursday, December 6th 2012 at Lily and Syringa assisted living center in Idaho Falls, following a stroke.

She was born May 8, 1933 to John Guy Fife and Eleanor Melrie Dalling in Sugar City. She was the oldest of five children.

She grew up traveling with her family thru many cities in Idaho; including Sugar City, Rigby, Leadore, Sandpoint, Salmon and Blackfoot. She attended Salmon High School before moving to Blackfoot.

She met Leonard Barnes at a dance in Blackfoot. They were married August 30, 1957 in the Idaho Falls Temple. They made their home in Milo: where she came home to two children, Evelyn, 5, and Stanley, 4. The couple later had two more children, Sheila and Larry.

She cared for her son, Larry, lovingly for 17 years, as he suffered with Muscular Dystrophy. She was a great mother and a wonderful Grammies.

She was a homemaker and kept a clean, well running home. Her hobbies were reading, gardening and making her coveted rag rugs.

She was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She served in the Primary and was a visiting teacher. She enjoyed doing temple work and genealogy.

Marylin is survived by son, Stanley (Jill) Barnes, of Milo, Daughters, Evelyn Barnes, of Milo and Sheila (Gary) Harris of Ammon, brother, Dale (Ruth) Fife and sister, Betty (David) Tanner, of Blackfoot, sister, Carol (Ralph) Grimmett, of Idaho City, 10 grandchildren and 29 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Leonard Barnes, son, Larry Barnes, her parents, and a sister, Linda Fife Pehrson.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Monday, December 10, 2012 at the Milo LDS Church, 12127 N.75 East.
