Mr. George Field, a retired police officer, died yesterday afternoon at his residence on I between 9th and 10th streets southeast, aged 70 years. Mr. Field came here as a member of the first Michigan cavalry and served during the war in that regiment and the second United States cavalry. Shortly after the close of the war he was appointed on the police force, on which he served for several years, and about six years ago he was retired under the administration of Maj. Dye for disability. He leaves a family, all grown, and was a member of Lincoln Post, G.A.R., which will attend his funeral on Sunday afternoon.
