Mrs. Monnie Bailey VanHoose, 79, died August 7, in Louisa Community Hospital after an extended illness.
Mrs. VanHoose was born February 22, 1903 in Red Bush, the daughter of James Hayden and Ida Creton Ferguson.
She was a resident of Sitka and a member of the United Baptist Church.
Her first husband, Hige Bailey, preceded her in death in 1956.
Surviving are her husband, Fred VanHoose; three step daughters, Mrs. Ollie McKenzie and Mrs. Ernestine Hackney, Sitka, and Mrs. Reba Castle, Nippa; four brothers, Lunday Ferguson, Flat Gap, Clyde, Elwood and Hargus Ferguson, Blaine; two sisters, Mrs. Myrtle West, Louisa, and Mrs. Lura McCoy, Louisiana.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, August 10, in Paintsville Funeral Home Chapel with Elder Paul E. Keaton officiating.
Burial was in the VanHoose Family Cemetery at Sitka.
